The Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals certification is perfect for those who:

• Want to validate their foundational knowledge of core data concepts and how to implement them using Azure data services.
• Need to reinforce their basics for other Azure role-based certifications, like Azure Database Administrator Associate, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Power BI Data Analyst Associate, or Azure Developer Associate. While it's not required for these certifications, it provides a strong foundation.
• Are new to cloud technologies or just starting with Azure. We recommend starting with Azure fundamentals training and certification.

If you're starting to work with data in the cloud, this certification is designed for you. It can be helpful if you already have some familiarity with the following:

• The concepts of relational and non-relational data.
• Different types of data workloads, like transactional or analytical.

Skills Measured:

• Describe core data concepts (25–30%)
• Identify considerations for relational data on Azure (20–25%)
• Describe considerations for working with non-relational data on Azure (15–20%)

Passing Criteria: 

• A passing score is 700 or greater.

Exam Duration:

• 60 Minutes.

Recertification:

• Previously, Microsoft role-based and specialty certifications were valid for two years.
• Starting June 2021, certifications are valid for one year, but they can be renewed online for free at Microsoft Learn.
• The renewal window begins six months before the certification expires. During this window, before the cert expires, you can take a free online assessment and get the certification extended by one additional year from the current expiration date.
• Want the best of both worlds, old and new? Certifications earned before June 2021 will be valid for two years and eligible for the new renewal process.
